Potential Chicago drayage shortage awaits LA-LB shippers

Shippers face another round of potential woes even after their stalled containers move from congested Los Angeles-Long Beach via intermodal rail to Chicago.
The surge of intermodal volume from Southern California to Chicago ahead of the holiday shopping season could be too much for Windy City drayage drivers, and some shippers could get hit with demurrage charges because of a lack of trucking capacity. Demurrage fees on containers and chassis range generally between $100 and $175.
